poetry: the day when freedom died
59
The Death of The American Dream
They came in paddy wagons, black cars and crown vics
they came with billy clubs tasers, guns and whips,
to protect the dream
to stop the fear
polititions calculated and connived,
to oust the opposition, to defeat the disillusioned
to protect the dream
to stop the fear
phone lines were taped monitored,
lid-less eye raised at every street corner
to see the disillusioned,
to see the malcontent,
to protect the dream,
to stop the fear,
now the people sit in there houses,
quite, afraid to talk, afraid to think,
constantly watched monitored
on the day when freedom died.

"lid-less eye raised at every street corner" really loved this line. Powerful piece, man.
